The Repsol Classic team finished in first place in the Caramulo hillclimb in Portugal. The competition, part of the Caramulo Motor Festival, is the vintage car meet with the most tradition in Portugal, and the result was four vehicles presented by the Spanish team among four of the first five places in their respective categories.
The fastest of these was the Jaguar E Type driven by Javier Ortega, who had an advantage of 1 second over the Elva MK7 driven by Carlos de Miguel. The classification was very tight and only 1 second separated Miguel Arias`s Unipower-Cooper from the Fiat 124 Abarth driven by José Macías, who returned to this speciality after more than 20 years without competing in hillclimbs.The Caramulo hillclimb attracted over 20 000 people and over 150 participants, and had the additional extra of a chance to visit the best car museum in the peninsula. The hillclimb had a total of 70 classic vehicles, with the Ferrari 195 Inter being one of the most noteworthy and beautiful at the meet.The four cars in the Repsol Classic Team completed the two practice hillclimbs as well as the two timed climbs without problems, something that helped the team`s mechanics with their preparations for the second part of the season which contains several races both in Spain as well as abroad.
