Saldaña returns to Le Mans for the eighth time

Tomás Saldaña is one of the Spanish drivers with the longest track record in the World Resistance Championships and with most experience of the 24 Hour Le Mans, the resistance race ‘par excellence,’ in which he has taken part seven times. In ten days time, he will drive the La Sarthe circuit again in another 24 hour race, this time in classic cars and as part of the Repsol Classic team.

The driver from Madrid will drive a Ferrari 275 GTB, making up a team with Miguel Arias, the Colombian Camilo Steuer and Carlos de Miguel. I’m very excited to return to the Le Mans Circuit 10 years after the last time I took part in the 24 Hours, said Saldaña during the latest testing session carried out with his new machine. This is a Ferrari 275 GTB from 1964, which recently won the Auto Tour. To drive a Ferrari at Le Mans reminds me of the race I entered 16 years ago, with the Ferrari 348 Michelotto. To drive a Ferrari at Le Mans is always something special, plus, I’ll be racing in the same Repsol colours as I always wore in this mythical race.

Tomás Saldaña took part in the Le Mans 24 Hour on seven occasions between 1992 and 2000 and drove a diverse range of cars, ranging from the powerful Porsche 962 and CK8 for the Kremer brothers team, to the Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3 for the Kremer and Meycom teams, including the Lolas and the Ferrari 348 mentioned above. The Le Mans Classic 24 Hours will take place on the 10th and 11th July.
