Repsol team rider Toni Bou has taken a giant’s step to retain The Indoor Trials World Championship, after dominating this Saturday the fourth and last test fot points, disputed at the Datch Forum in Milan. With this victory, third in the current edition of this contest, the Repsol rider just has to start off in the Madrid Indoor Trials, which will be disputed next Saturday 15th , in order to be proclaimed World Champion in this modality for the second year running.
Toni Bou dominated throughout this fourth world championship event, finishing the qualifying round without a single point penalty, and sentencing with authority a play-off which with the reverse direction areas, turned out to be much more selective. Teammate Takahisa Fujinami overcame the physical weakness due to the flu and managed his second consecutive podium. The Japanese rider finished his first round with six points.
The test which next Saturday decides who the world title goes to will be held at Madrid’s Palacio de Deportes, starting at 8:00 pm.
Toni Bou
“I’m really satisfied with this victory, it has practically meant the definitive step towards securing the World Title for the second year . I still have to go through the last test, but now I’m certain I can start considering it. I hope there aren’t any setbacks and that in a week’s time we can celebrate it with the rest of the team in Madrid.”
Takahisa Fujinami
“After a week with physical problems and without training at all, I consider this podium to be an important result. The first lap evidently went much better for me than the second, where I suffered quite a bit and piled up points. Another good result for the team and especially for Toni, who once again has showed how strong he is.”
