Victory for Laia Sanz in the first round of the Women’s World Trial Outdoor

Laia Sanz won the first of the three rounds in this year`s Women`s World Trial Outdoor, held today Saturday in Andorra. With this triumph Laia has started the fight for what could be her ninth world title in the best possible manner, with an overwhelming victory after winning the two laps with a large margin to spare.

On quite slippery terrain after rain fell the Repsol rider finished the first lap of the circuit with 8 penalty points, half of what the rider in second place had. On the second lap and with better adherence, Laia Sanz improved her score even more. She only received 3 more penalty points, and once again 8 fewer than her closest rivals, Rebekah Cook & Joanne Coles, who were on the podium at the end of the day.

The two rounds that will decide this latest edition of the Women`s World Trial Outdoor will be held in France and Italy on 12th and 18th September, respectively. Before then on 19th and 25th July, there are the last two rounds in the European Championship, where Laia Sanz hopes to get her eighth continental title, all of them consecutive.

Laia Sanz
“The only objective was to win, so I am satisfied with having done so and to have started the championship with the best possible result. Anyway I am very demanding of myself, and I think that on the first lap I made a couple of mistakes too many, after getting left behind a little in the zones, which made me make up for the lost ground later. On the second lap I had the right pace and I felt much more comfortable”.
