The Repsol rider Toni Bou, finished second in the French Trial GP, held today Sunday in the French town of Maisse, and at the same time the second half of the 2008 season began. This result keeps the reigning World Champion at the top of the overall classification, with a 12 point advantage over his immediate rival, his compatriot Adam Raga. Takahisa Fujinami was third, the same place that he occupies in the general, at the same time he got his seventh consecutive podium.
Bou and Fujinami are the only two riders that have had seven podium finishes in the seven rounds held so far this season. The equality between the three riders who finished on the podium was what dominated this the seventh round of the World Championship. Fujinami was just one point ahead of Bou at the end of the day, and was only two behind the eventual winner at the end of a very complicated first lap, because the rain that had fallen during the night made the track very difficult. On the second lap Bou managed to recover a little, but a disaster in the final zone prevented him from having any chance of getting what would have been his fifth victory of the season. Moreover, Montesa-HRC got another triumph in the constructors´ classification, getting even further ahead of its rivals. The eighth round will be next weekend in the Italian town of Tolmezzo. Toni BouToday`s result is the best way of seeing that the World Championship is very tight. Perhaps there was somebody who thought that with my three consecutive victories in the last three rounds that the championship was practically over, but I have been saying that this is absolutely not the case. Both Adam as well as Fujinami are my two strongest rivals, and there are many points left to win. Takahisa FujinamiFinishing on the podium is always good. I was fighting for the victory when the conditions were the worst; it is a pity that when the situation got better, I got worse. But overall I am quite satisfied.
