Toni Bou & Repsol, triple World Trial Champions

The Repsol rider Toni Bou won his third consecutive world crown today, Sunday. He finished 4th in today`s 11th round in France, the Repsol rider found himself fighting against the rain when he still had five zones to cover. Like him his teammate Takahisa Fujinami was also adversely affected by the change in the weather, as it stopped him from getting a victory that he had been fighting for for a large part of the day.

The first lap ended with the Japanese Repsol Montesa – HRC rider at the top of the leaderboard, he was given just 4 penalty points, one less than Raga, and 4 less than Bou, 3rd. But the rain on the second lap of this the last race of the season, the 35th edition of the World Trial Championship, influenced the result decisively. And so when Toni Bou & Takahisa Fujinami got to the final five zones they had very little grip. The Japanese rider had to make do with 2nd place on the podium and the Spaniard 4th position overall.
The Repsol rider celebrated his latest success at the same venue where his teammate Laia Sanz won her ninth world title in the women`s category.

Toni Bou
“I started with the intention of celebrating the latest title with another victory, but also knowing that I did not have to take any risks as they were absolutely unnecessary. In the end I did not get the result I would have liked, but we had done the important things in the previous ten rounds. Obviously I am very satisfied with having regained my world title and I have to congratulate the whole team for their work, which once again was spot on. I also have the work done by Dídac Cercós very much in mind, he is my assistant, as sickness has stopped him from being here with us for the last two very important rounds”.
