The 125cc pre-season continues to advance and today, at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo, the first official practices of the year started, as proven by the 25 riders who took part and the official the timesheet. On a sunny day with a little wind on the track, Marc Márquez has confirmed that he is one of the fastest in the category by ending the day second on the timesheet.
The Repsol rider clocked up a time of 1 minute, 41 seconds and 841 milliseconds, only beaten by Pol Espargaró, who finished 937 milliseconds ahead of him. Marquez’ plan for the day was basically to ride and recover the sensations with the machine on a new circuit, especially in much better conditions for riding than two weeks ago at the Circuit de Catalunya. The Repsol rider and his team have started to evaluate some of the adjustments made to the set-up of his Derbi RSA to adapt them to his riding style.
Tomorrow, testing continues with the aim of getting, over these three days and in the forthcoming test in Jerez, a good base set up for the entire championship. That is, get a basic set-up which, by making the smallest changes possible, can be quickly adapted to the characteristics of the different circuits in the World Championship. To do this, the team is studying the Catalan rider’s riding style, preferences and sensations in the saddle to contribute his experience and burn a basic stage in the pre-season, which allows him to feel comfortable and ride faster when the championship starts.

“Today, we’ve been able to do a more normal test than two weeks ago at the Circuit de Catalunya because the weather conditions have been a lot better. It hasn’t rained, it’s been sunny and the asphalt temperature has been good. The biggest problem has been the wind, but we’ve been able to ride more consistently, and do some good laps, with a better pace. Let’s see if we can continue working well tomorrow, but always keeping calm, because there are many days of work ahead to do many different tests”.
