The Lleida regional town of Cervera has gone all out tonight for its most illustrious citizen, a young man of just 17 years old who, at midday yesterday, made history by being crowned 125cc World Champion. With his victory, Marc Márquez yesterday put his town on the map and all his fellow citizens went out into the streets to celebrate their neighbour’s success. Today, his fans, friends, relatives, neighbours, sponsors and associates again took to the streets to celebrate the Motorcycle World Championship Title with the Repsol rider.
Márquez arrived in Cervera – Lleida – from Valencia and was received by a spectacular procession made up of all the neighbours and percussion bands of the town, along with the motorcycle fans who wanted to come to congratulate him. Going through the town’s packed streets, they led him to the historic town hall where he received tributes from the mayor and local authorities after waving to the crowd gathered in the surrounding areas.
Finally, the Repsol rider was conducted to the square in front of the school from where he spoke to all his loyal supporters from a stage specially built for the occasion. It was the start of an emotional street party in which the Repsol rider was able to celebrate the spectacular achievement of a hard-fought title won over sixteen races in which he clocked up ten wins, astounding the entire world of motorcycling.

“The last few hours have been very intense and I’m really enjoying everything that’s going on because it’s a dream come true. There are times when you are speechless like, for example, the welcome they have given me here in Cervera. I had an idea of what might happen because I’d heard a few things but when you arrive and see all this, the reality has surpassed any expectation”.
