Repsol riders on the first row in the three classes.
Nicky Hayden, third in MotoGP, among the most brilliant riders of the premier class. Porto 3rd in 250 and Nieto 4th in 125 also looking forward to a podium finish.
Positive practice day for the Repsol riders at the Circuit de Catalunya with results allowing for optimism in the fifth round of the season which will be held tomorrow, starting from 11.15 in the morning. The North American rider Nicky Hayden was with no doubt the most effective of the riders with his third place in the MotoGP class. His 1.43.124 clock placed him 0.528 seconds behind Sete Gibernau’s pole position. The most important fact is however, that Hayden made a very consistent job during the practice hour.Hayden and his technical team were above all looking for the best compromise for the race, but three minutes before the end of the session he started a splendid lap allowing him to set the third fastest time and to be on the front row of the grid right before the chequered flag appeared on the track. Alex Barros, with set-up problems, finished sixth fastest and will be taking the start from the second row of the grid. Xaus managed to set an excellent seventh fastest time and will be starting from the third row.
Very good performance of Sebastián Porto as well. The Argentinean rider, winner of the Italian GP, finished third fastest and was not able to clinch the pole which went to Frenchman de Puniet, due to the many riders on the track during the ten last minutes of the session, hindering him from trying to make a faster lap. Fonsi Nieto was sixth and will be starting from the second row of the grid.
Spectacular result in the 125cc with three Spanish riders, Lorenzo, Barberá and Pablo Nieto, on the front row, joined by the Australian Stoner. Nieto made a very regular practice and hopes to be among the top riders on a track where he has always shown to be highly effective. His teammate Sergio Gadea finished twenty-seventh.
