Valentino Rossi and Pablo Nieto set the pace in Montmeló.
Pole position in MotoGP and 125; Toni Elias and Fonsi Nieto 3rd and 6th in the 250cc. Héctor Barberá 4th and Dani Pedrosa 6th in the 125cc
High temperatures have played the leading role in the second official practice session of the Catalunya GP in Montmeló. The heat turned the tyre choice into the key for the development of tomorrows races, which is why the Repsol riders have focussed their work today on these aspects, with asphalt temperatures of almost 47ºC.
Pablo Nieto has been the fastest in the 125cc improving the time set yesterday and taking the pole, although the big surprise was given by Héctor Barberá, who managed to finish fourth and will be starting tomorrow from the first row of the grid, together with the Italians Dovizioso and Cechinello. Dani Pedrosa, current leader of the Championship together with Cechinello had to settle for the sixth place and will take the start from the second row.
Good results in the 250cc as well. Fastest time for Randy de Puniet and third place for Toni Elias who managed to stay on the front row, despite not improving the time he set yesterday. Fonsi Nieto, sixth did manage to improve the time set on Friday and will be starting from the second row. Both of them have had a remarkable performance today, given the fact that they were second and third in the mornings free practice.Valentino Rossi managed to keep the pole thanks to the extraordinary 1.43.927 set on Friday. The reigning MotoGP World Champion has focussed his work on setting the bike for tomorrow and will be joined by Loris Capirossi, Oliver Jacque and Sete Gibernau on the front row of the grid.
