Once again Repsol riders in the first row of all categories
Like yesterday, the high temperatures have marked the development of the practice sessions at the GP de Catalunya. Despite this inconvenience, which has been a handicap for the work of all teams, the Repsol riders have achieved their objective taking first row positions in all categories. All of them have been able to keep their options for a race that is going to be hard in many aspects. Fonsi Nieto has been the one with the best result. Pole position in the 250cc category, Nieto will share the first row of the grid with Melandri, Locatelli and De Puniet, while his teammate Elias will be starting from the third row. The main worry of both riders is the choice of the right tyres for the race. Dani Pedrosa, with an excellent performance as well, has taken second place in the 125cc behind the reigning World Champion Manuel Poggiali. As Nieto, Pedrosa is hoping for success in tomorrow’s race, and is considered one of the main favourites. Two Italian, one Japanese and one Spanish rider make up the grid of the MotoGP category. Max Biaggi has taken the pole position followed very closely by Tohru Ukawa and Sete Gibernau. Rossi has been fourth despite several problems with the set-ups and the settings of the suspensions, which his team is hoping to solve trying out different setting combinations during tomorrow morning’s warm-up session, which will be decisive with regard to the choice of tyres. The high temperatures will be with no doubt the protagonist of this GP.
