Southafrican GP. 2nd qualifying practice

Repsol riders still leading in Southafrica
The second qualifying practice of the MotoGP category has been very similar to yesterday’s session. Eventually and after a very even timed session, the Repsol rider Valentino Rossi took the pole only 32 hundreds of a seconds ahead of his fellow countryman Loris Capirossi. His teammate Tohru Ukawa was third fastest, a bit over 2 tenths behind Rossi. In the 250cc. Fonsi Nieto couldn’t keep his place on the first row of the grid and will start tomorrow from the second row after making the fifth fastest time. A slower rider hindered Fonsi, when he was riding for the pole in his fastest lap. His teammate Toni Elías didn’t have much luck either and was set back to the fifteenth position with some set-up problems, due to the lack of experience in this category, as he said. The smallest cylinder category of the Championship has lived today another electrifying episode in the fight for the pole, a fight that was eventually won by the young Daniel Pedrosa who took the pole, the second of his sports career and of the 2002 season. His teammate Joan Olivé couldn’t get a place on the third row of the grid despite being twelfth during the last moments of the session. Olivé will start tomorrow from the fourth row after making the thirteenth fastest time.
