MotoGP. Valentino Rossi. 142.276 (5th): ‘We still have some problems but not like yesterday. On the last lap when it was possible to make a little bit better time I got blocked and lost time and concentration. I’d obviously like to be on the front row but I’m not too worried about the race. For me it is important to have a good rhythm and we have that. The suspension is coming better from yesterday and it is now possible to ride the bike. We still have traction problems but I hope it is the same for the others!’MotoGP. Nicky Hayden.1.43.474 (19th): ‘A bit of a frustrating day again I guess. We kinda went round in circles trying stuff. In the end I really didn’t really find anything that worked for me. Thought we had it going in the right direction in this morning’s session but when it warmed up this afternoon a lot of things change which was a bit of a bummer! We’ll sit down this evening with the team and look at all the data – there are some really experienced guys here and I hope we’ll be able to work something out for tomorrow – let’s hope it’s a different story!’250. Fonsi Nieto, 1.1.45.836.(5th): ‘I’m not satisfied because I haven’t been able to find the right set-up yet. We still haven’t found a solution, despite improving a lot after taking last year’s chassis. I haven’t had a good preseason and now I’m suffering the consequences. Today’s fifth place doesn’t worry me for tomorrow. The most important thing is to have a fast and constant pace to be able to fight with the leading group. I know it’s going to be difficult, especially due to the tyres. There’s still the warm-up to keep on working and improve things a bit. (6th): ‘I got an infiltration today, but the truth is that is didn’t have much effect. The finger still hurts when braking, and therefore I wasn’t able to improve the times I made yesterday. The pain is harder after putting pressure on the finger, but I’ll try to do my best tomorrow. The most important thing now is to make a good start and to keep the pace with the leading pack. If the times are fast it will be very difficult for me to stand the whole race. I have a good setting and the most important thing is that despite the pain, I’m still eager to do it the best I can. I’ll give it all.’250. Sebastián Porto, 1.46.122. (8th): ‘It’s a complicated weekend. Yesterday we lost almost all morning with an engine problem and therefore today has been like a first practice. Besides we also had tyre problems yesterday, I crashed heavily and got a scratch on my neck, although it’s actually more uncomfortable than painful. I was able to improve my time this morning but in the afternoon, the engine seized and I crashed again. Now we have to meet with the team and take the start tomorrow to get as many points as possible.’250. Héctor Faubel, 1.47.096. (17th): ‘It’s a very hard weekend. In Japan and South Africa I was among the top and I was hoping that it would be the same here, in Jerez. But I’m not worried, I’ve done my best to be fast but it seams as though there is something wrong with the setting. We still don’t know what it is but we hope to find it tomorrow during the warm-up, before the race.’250. Joan Olivé, 1.47.571 (19th): ‘The morning session wasn’t bad, we changed some settings, but we were not able to solve the problems with the suspensions. In the afternoon I was able to improve my times, but I was faster during the IRTA tests held here a couple of months ago, the settings were better. Now, when I give gas, the rear tyre slides and I’m not able to ride well. I hope to find a solution before the race to be able to make a good start.’125. Pablo Nieto, 1.47.71. (Pole): ‘The worst problem today has been the heat and choosing the right tyres. The high temperatures have troubled all riders, you could see that in the times. I’m happy with the pole, but I prefer to keep my feet on the ground because what’s most important is the race. I’m concentrated and the bike works fine, now we only need a bit of luck and everything to work well to win tomorrow.’125. Dani Pedrosa, 1.48.319. (4th): ‘We’ve had a problem with a new tyre we were testing, harder than usual. When I was on my way to the pit, on a very slow corner, I touched the gas and the bike threw me off. I tried to hold on but I finally crashed. The front of the bike suffered a lot but I managed to get to the pit, they fixed it and I went back out to try another type of tyre. But we’re on the front row of the grid tomorrow and that’s what counts.’125. Héctor Barberá, 1.48.904. (7th): ‘Today’s session has been much better than yesterday’s, I’ve been riding fast although we all made fast times due to the heat that affected the track and consequently the speed. But I finished seventh, a good result with regard to the other races, were I finished farther back. Let’s see if it continues like this and I’m able to be among the top riders tomorrow.’
