Pedrosa wins and consolidates his leadership in the Championship.

Fonsi finished second in the 250cc and Elias fourth, getting closer to the leadership. Rossi clinches a spectacular second place in MotoGP.

Dani Pedrosa has shown today at the Catalunya circuit, that he is a real favourite for the 125cc World Championship title. Three last laps of enormous quality allowed him to clinch his third victory of the season, thus taking back the lead of the overall standings after Lucio Cechinello’s retirement. The race has been, as usual in the 125cc class, a very exciting race in group. The negative side were the crashes of Héctor Barberá and Pablo Nieto. Both were fighting for a place on the podium and their race, despite being brilliant, could not be finish with a good result.

Fonsi Nieto was one of the protagonists of the 250cc race and his fight with Frenchman de Puniet, winner of the race, the most outstanding fact of the race. Fonsi tried it until the last time but he finally had to settle for the second place. His performance throughout the weekend has nevertheless been positive and he has unreservedly recovered the confidence in his riding that took him to be runner up last season.Elias has also had a brilliant performance but unfortunately after a bad start, that forced him to be fifteenth after the first lap. A spectacular progression took him to the final fourth place. He couldn’t step on the podium but Manuel Poggiali’s retirement due to mechanical problems set him on second place of the overall standings, seven points behind the leader.Valentino Rossi, did not win, but he offered and extraordinary riding exhibition. After going off the track in lap seventeen while he was fighting for the lead against Loris Capirossi, Valentino re-entered the track on eighth place and made up positions with an unstoppable pace, clinching a final, well deserved, second place. Sete Gibernau took the third step of the podium.The next round of the Championship will be the Dutch GP, which will be held at the Assen circuit on June 28.
