Test 250 Catalunya: Positive balance for 250 cc Repsol Honda Team riders in Barcelona

Significant improvement of Shuhei Aoyama in this second day; Sebastián Porto continues adapting to his new bike

Now that the first official tests of the 2006 season are over, the balance drawn by the Repsol Honda Team in Barcelona is positive, although it is clear that there is still a lot of work left to do. The next tests in Jerez on Wednesday and Thursday next week will be decisive for a good start of the 2006 season. Both Repsol riders used these two test days to work on the suspension settings and to test different tyre compounds. Sebastián Porto covered a total of 58 laps -274 Km-, and his team-mate Shuhei Aoyama 107 -506 Km-. The Japanese rider, who improved the time he had set yesterday by two seconds, clocked the eighth fastest time of the day, with Lorenzo setting the fastest time again. Sebastián Porto, who managed to improve his best time of yesterday by almost one second, finished ninth, right behind his team-mate.

Sebastián Porto:
Not so well. We haven’t been able to make the bike work better yet. We have to keep on working; there is another test next week and I hope that well be able to improve the bike by then. We have moved forward since the last time I was on the bike, but there’s still a lot left to be improved. The bike is very different to the one I was used to and there are many things I have to change in my riding style, although the bike must also be adapted a bit to my style. Its taking me some time, but Im not worried and trust that everything will be solved and that we will arrive at the first race much better than now.

Shuhei Aoyama:
Things have worked out much better today, Im happier. We have been working on the suspension settings and weve also been testing tyres; I liked some of them a lot. This circuit is very difficult for me, but I like it and I hope to be faster next time. Im happy because we have improved and thats the main thing.
