Jordi Carchano was born in Sant Quirze del Vallés, Barcelona, on July 2, 1984. Although his first steps in the world of motorcycling were not as early as those of his fellow riders and rivals, he got on a motorbike for the first time at the age of eight, while the other kids of his age were learning to ride a bicycle. The minibike was a gift from his father and the youngster enjoyed the experience. But Jordi grew up as any other child of his age, and his liking for motorbikes was nothing more than that, a liking, until the interest in competition arose again at the age of sixteen. It was in Almería, in 2001, when he got on a racing bike for the first time. It was a 125cc bike with which he would practice to compete in the Catalan Road Racing Championship. He showed a good style from the start and took part in some races of the Spanish Championship. But it was a hard season for Carchano; it was his first contact with the world of racing, because he had not taken part in any promotion cup, the learning results were however very positive.

In 2002 he contested the whole Spanish Road Racing Championship (CEV), in addition to some races of the Catalan Championship, where he enjoyed the taste of victory for the first time. Carchano faced the 2003 season having already experienced a whole season in the CEV and thus was able to get better results and his first pole positions. In the end, his regularity took him to become fifth overall in the championship. He had his first international appearances that year. He took part in several races of the European Championship and in his first race of the World Championship as a wild card rider; it was in the Catalan Grand Prix, where he finished twenty-fifth.

In 2004, the young 19-year-old-rider made the definitive jump to the Motorcycling World Championship, guided by the Matteoni Racing Team (Honda). He scored his first two points in the race held in Jerez, but they would finally be his only two points. He did not take part in two Grand Prix and couldnt finish another two. Thirty-first in the overall standings, the Catalan rider had problems adapting to the World Championship, logical somehow. It was a hard experience because his team would not do enough for him and his repeated bad starts would not help much either. He also took part in all of the races of the CEV where he did show himself highly competitive. He won the first race, remounting from the last position after his bike stalled, and although he fought for victory several times, he was finally fifth in the championship. After racing his first complete season in the 125cc World Championship, Jordi has now joined the MVA Aspar Júnior Team, and will be racing the 2005 season on an Aprilia machine with Spanish rider Julián Miralles as his team-mate.

Carchano, who has already covered his first kilometres with the team is especially fond of the relationship created with his new team and the good atmosphere. In his spare time, this young 20-year-old-rider enjoys watching movies, footing, and doing all kinds of sports. His keeps exciting memories of his victory in Catalonia in the 2004 CEV, although his best memory is the race in Jerez, where he scored his first points in the World Championship. Jordi Carchano faces his second season in the World Championship without setting himself special aims as regards results, although he does expect to finish all races and this time further in the front. His experience has shown him that it will be a hard and long way, but he is very confident in himself and in the team.
