With the majestic frame of the Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires, Repsol YPF presented yesterday the sports sponsorship of Sebastián Porto, for his 2005 campaign in the 250cc World Championship. The classical Versailles hall of the hotel was decorated with modern and impressive pictures and displays showing the best moments of the Argentinean rider in the 2004 World Championship. Journalists of the most important Argentinean media newspapers, TV and radio -, attended the event while on the stage, Sebastián Porto was joined by Daniel Scioli, Argentina vice-president, and Enrique Locutura, Repsol YPF Manager for Argentina. Its very important that a company like Repsol YPF backs a rider from Argentina in the World Championship. This is what deserves Porto for his efforts and after displaying such tenacity over many years and for having clinched the runner-up title with ability and skill. Daniel Scioli declared, adding that Porto is a true ambassador of Argentine sports. Enrique Locutura stated having a rider like Sebastián under our colours at the circuits of the World Championship makes us, at Repsol YPF, very proud, and even more when he climbs on the podium. Thats why we renewed our partnership with the one who gave us so much satisfaction last year.
Sebastián Porto thanked Repsol YPF for their confidence and the Argentinean media for their presence and support, adding, A new challenge lies ahead, but we got ourselves well prepared. The pre-season testing went excellent. We worked on a new chassis, which should be better on various tracks. Moreover, Aprilia sent us mechanics and dedicated technicians to do a better job in the garage. Our sports spirit has only one goal: the 250cc Championship. Im delighted to see young riders moving up from the 125cc class.
2005 will be a year with a really high competition level in the 250cc class, concluded Porto, with 140 GP on his shoulders but with the same excitement as always.
