Nieto: ‘Im going to give a hundred percent to win some races before the end of the season’.
Valentino Rossi: These back-to-back races are amazing. Sometimes they are like one big race. You hardy have time to recover from one race weekend before you are in the next. And for sure Motegi was a hard race. When the bike set-up is not 100% it is always difficult to ride sweetly and much harder work. But I think it was a good race and Barros did very well. I enjoy a good battle and for sure thats what we had. It was good spectacle. After winning the championship in Rio I think to myself that we have another mini-championship for the final four races to keep my motivation. Barros is in the lead at the moment! We have three races left. Sepang is OK. I won the race last year and have the lap record. The level at MotoGP is really increasing. Yamaha have made big improvements and we have extra pressure from more RCVs on the grid. The will be more four-stroke Yamahas at Sepang and it is good to see Kawasaki back as well. It is all good for the show! Tohru Ukawa: I quite like Sepang. Ive ridden the RCV there in testing and it seemed to go well. The circuit is well suited to the four-stroke but this is not such an advantage now as there are not so many two-strokes left! Ive mixed memories at the circuit. I came second on the 250 in 1999, crashed the following year and came 5th on the 500cc last year. All I can say is that I really want to keep the pressure up and finish second in the Championship. With the titles decided, that is the best I can hope for. Fonsi Nieto: The Championship title is almost gone, but I arrive in Malaysia focussed on fighting for the victory. Im going to give a hundred percent to win some races before the end of the season. Malaysia was great for me last year; I took my second podium finish of the season here. I would like to improve that result this year and Malaysia is a circuit I like a lot, despite the usual extreme weather conditions. The temperature and the humidity are always very high, turning this Grand Prix in one of the most demanding, not only for the riders, but also for the bikes and the tyres, which will be the determining factor for the race. Toni Elias: Im obviously very happy after the victory in Japan, but we havent had time to celebrate it yet. Id love to step on the podium again in Malaysia, but it will be difficult to be again among the fastest riders of the class on this circuit. I like the Sepang circuit, the only inconvenience are the conditions under which we have to race. We will need a very good set-up here, because the heat and the humidity affect the bikes performance and the tyres, which will be the decisive factor for the race results. We also depend a lot on whether the rain shows up or not, because its raining almost every day. But, anyway, I hope that this all wont hinder me from fighting again for a place on the podium. Dani Pedrosa. Nothing has changed for me after the victory in Japan, Im still focussed on the races ahead, without thinking of the Championship and the standings. I set my objectives race by race, obviously trying to win, if possible. Whatever happens at the end…well see, but right now Im only thinking about this weekend, about fighting for the victory in Sepang. The team is making a great job, our bike is working better every day and that makes me feel especially optimistic. Joan Olivé. Somehow Im glad about the races taking place one straight after the other, because I enjoyed the race in Japan and I wont have to wait two weeks to get back on my bike. Sepang is a quite complicated circuit, especially due to the weather conditions and because it is very difficult to choose the right tyres. Choosing the right tyres may be the difference between a good and a bad race result. I only hope that it doesnt rain and that the race doesnt become a lottery.
