Italy GP. Second practice. Driver´s comments

Rossi: ‘It will be a hard battle tomorrow but it will be good to start from the front’.
MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, 1.51´927 sec. (1st). Grid position 1st: At the end of the session like everybody else I really try to push to make the best time. I tried first with six or seven minutes remaining and made a 52.0 so I stop trying and came in. My team did fantastic work and changed the tyre in 30 seconds and it was possible top make the extra lap. One the last lap I pushed very much using 100% of the tyre. In the middle of the lap I had a big advantage but I then had to overtake Bayliss and I made a mistake on the last corner but it was enough for the pole position. It will be a hard battle tomorrow but it will be good to start from the front.  MotoGP, Nicky Hayden, 1.53´190 sec. (16th). Grid position 17th: I felt better on the track today and managed to go take over a second off my time from yesterday. Of course I would like to start further up the grid. I guess Im struggling a little with front-end confidence. Ive got more time on the track tomorrow every little bit helps. In the morning everything feels better than when it heats up and the grip just isnt there. Im finding my way round here a lot better the tracks really fun. Im looking forward to the race itll be tough tomorrow but Im really ready for it. The last two races have been a little disappointing after the first two I want to get things back on track. 250. Fonsi Nieto, 1.54´733 sec. (3rd). Grid position 3rd: It has been difficult to get a good rhythm this afternoon, because the engine looses quite a lot of performance with the heat. But this happens to all of the riders. Weve also made some changes from the morning to the afternoon that did not have the expected results. At least we have improved a lot compared to Le Mans, because the bike lets me turn where I want to. We still have some work to do if we want to improve more, but were finding the way bit by bit. Tomorrow it will be a hard race due to the heat, but at least I have a good rhythm and I think Ill be able to fight for the podium. 250. Toni Elias, 1.55´839 sec. (5th). Grid position 5th: I couldnt improve the time I made yesterday. Weve made some changes for today that have worsen the bikes behaviour. I was expecting more on this track after the times I had made in March, but the difference in temperature from winter to now is remarkable and everything changes. We still have the warm-up to try to find solutions. Tomorrow will be a hard race, its very hot and the pace set by Poggiali and De Puniet is very fast. Im far from that times, and therefore itll be difficult to hang on to them throughout the race. 250. Sebastián Porto, 1.56´163 sec. (7th). Grid position 7th: Its been much better today and Im satisfied. This morning we made too many tests with the frame and the engine and we got a little bit lost, but in the afternoon we managed to get a bike with quite an effective set-up. Ive been able to improve the times I made yesterday this afternoon and I have a good rhythm, so today I have the feeling of having done a good job. Were far from the Aprilias, but this is their testing circuit and their bikes adapt much more to the track than ours. With fifteen km/h difference in the top speed it will be difficult to fight for the podium tomorrow, but Ill be giving it all as always. 250. Héctor Faubel, 1.59´248 sec. (19th). Grid position 14th: Its been a bad day. Yesterday we had a lot of problems with the suspensions and today its been the engine. It fails, but we dont know why it is happening. Weve been working very hard and Im very happy with the team, but the truth is that today I havent been able to finish a single good lap. Well make the warm-up tomorrow with different settings, and if theyre good, well use them for the race.                       250. Joan Olivé, 1.58´224 sec. (15th). Grid position 12th: Its been a bit of a strange practice, I havent been able to make use of the time because the engine broke down and I havent been able to make a fast lap. Were going to leave these setting for the race, hoping that the engine doesnt fail tomorrow, because I actually feel comfortable on the bike as it is now.125. Dani Pedrosa, 1.59´608 sec (9th). Grid position 10th: ‘We’ve had several problems with the engine carburetion this afternoon, so I had to stop many times to solve these problems, loosing a lot of time. I tried to improve my times in the last six minutes of the session, but things usually don’t work out when you’re in a hurry, so tomorrow I’ll have to start from the third row of the grid. I don’t know whether we’ll be able to solve this problems tomorrow during the warm-u or not, because the temperature is quite different from the race and our engine suffers a lot with the heat.’125. Pablo Nieto, 1.59´043 sec (4ºth). Grid position 4th: ‘I’m quite happy, I’ll take the start from the front row tomorrow. This is something basic, especially for this Grand Prix where we’re usually up to fifteen riders lapping together. The setting of the bike is quite good and I’m not going to touch anything, now we have to finish the work in the race.’125. Héctor Barberá, 1.59´934 sec (12th). Grid position 12th: ‘This morning I managed to improve the time I made yesterday by one and a half second. I’m making the same times I made during the tests some months ago and I’m very happy with the pace. I think that I can make a good race, because I haven’t tried to make a single very fast lap but to get a good rhythm, that’s the most important. Tomorrow I’ll be starting from the twelfth place, and I hope to be able to finish among the top five.’
