Presentation of David Gutiérrez

In the 1996/97 season I began to work as a race mechanic, with Motorgas whose team rider was Oscar Lanza. Together we won the Spanish Motocross and Supercross Championship and the World Motocross Championship. In 1998 I also worked for the enduro team and I was the race mechanic for the six days of the enduro in Finland with Isidre Esteve.

In 1999, the well-known Ramón Forcada offered me work as a mechanic in the Honda Pons team. That was my first contact with speed racing. I worked with Juan Borja (500cc, 1999) in the Pons team as well as for David Guardiola, as head mechanic with the Spanish Championship team (250cc, 2000); Alex Barros (500cc, 2000/02), Torhu Ukawa, MotoGP (2003) and finally I entered the Honda Repsol team with Ramón Forcada and Alex Barros (MotoGP). In 2004 we finished fourth. In the summer of the same year I tested with Yamaha, the YZF 450 2WD.

In 2005 I began to work with Nicky Hayden, as mechanic/telemetric specialist. The first year together we finished third in the World Championship and second in the title for riders, teams and makes. When I am not working I like to ride my motocross bike, and to get away from so many bikes I go horse riding and swimming, although in general I like all sports and competitions.
