The successful relationship between HRC and Repsol has already reached the 13-year mark, and has brought nine 500cc and MotoGP World Championship titles, 96 premier class victories and 163 podium finishes so far.
“We are all very pleased to finally be able to announce that Repsol and HRC will continue their relationship two further years. It is the culmination of many months of hard work to establish the lines for the future of this common project”, declared Jaume Giró. The Repsol General Manager highlighted that this is the base “to be again one step ahead of our rivals, working close together with determination in order to be able to move forward in all those areas that can be improved, in an increasingly competitive sporting and technological frame”.
Finally, Giró remembered that “competing at the highest level is something innate to Repsol and it is part of the corporate philosophy and strategy of our company. High-level competition gives us the chance to be leaders in the research and development of new fuels and lubricants and, at the same time, allows us to keep a much tighter relationship with our customers, something that would be much more difficult without the world of competition”.
Repsol are also the competition fuel suppliers of the official Honda team, thanks to the development of specific fuel produced at the Repsol Technological Centre.
Satoru Horiike highlighted that “after 13 years with Repsol, HRC is very pleased to extend this relationship with a new agreement from the 2008 season”. “The Repsol Honda Team has broken all records in the past 13 years and our intention is to follow this line of success. Repsol Honda is a fully consolidated brand and therefore we are happy to be able to extend this relationship in the world of motorcycle road racing”, concluded HRC Managing Director.
