Toni Bou starts the second half of the Championship with another victory

Toni Bou started the second half of the World Trial Championship in the best possible way, winning the seventh scoring round of the season today (Sunday). Despite a strong flu and fever, Bou won the first of four races to be staged in July.

The Repsol-Montesa HRC rider structured his victory – the sixth in this season so far – with an effective first round on a complicated layout. In the second round, despite feeling week, Bou managed to keep the lead and at the same time increase his advantage on top of the overall standings. Takahisa Fujinami managed to achieve the second best score in the second round, thus being able to step on the podium again. Dougie Lampkin took part in the event without being completely recovered of his finger injury sustained during the Japanese Grand Prix, the previous round of the Championship. Under these conditions, the former world champion managed to remount two positions in the second round and finished fourth.

Laia Sanz was fourteenth in the Junior World Cup. As regards the Makes’ Championship, Montesa achieved another victory and continue increasing their advantage in the overall standings.

Toni Bou:
Winning under the conditions I did is a reward for the effort and the suffering I had to stand in the final phase of the event. Once again, Adam has done a great job and I know that I will not be able to relax a single minute. In such an intense month like this, I’m going to follow my plans strictly and go race by race, without thinking about anything else. It worked out well so far.

Takahisa Fujinami:
My second round was very good and I was happy with it, but it’s obvious that I have to do better in the first round to improve the results and be on a better position on the podium.

Dougie Lampkin:
To be honest, I did what I could. I haven’t recovered completely from my injury and, with four rounds in five weeks; I’m going to face a very difficult month to improve my physical condition. The eighth round of the World Championship is going to be staged next Sunday, July 8th in Myslenice (Poland).
