The Repsol Honda Team rider, who was injured during the second MotoGP training session at the Circuit of Losail – Qatar – yesterday landed this morning at the del Prat airport in Barcelona and was taken directly to the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus hospital for a diagnosis so that the extent of his injuries could be assessed. Pedrosa, who fell badly yesterday on corner 10 of the track in Qatar, entered the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus at 18:15 and was immediately seen by Doctor Mir, the head of the Hand Surgery Unit, and his team.
After a checkup and diagnostic tests (TAC in 3 dimensions and Magnetic Resonance) he was diagnosed as having a fracture on his left forearm-wrist. This injury will be operated on tomorrow – Wednesday -at 18:00. A titanium srcrew under compression will be inserted.
The checkup also discovered that he has bruising and a loss of some flesh at the height of his left knee, this will also need surgery tomorrow.
Dani Pedrosa left the hospital this evening but will return there tomorrow for his operation. A medical report will be given after the surgery.
