Repsol’s relationship with the Olympic Games has existed since 1988 when the Asociación de Deportes Olímpicos (ADO) began its work, and at the moment the Spanish oil company is one of its sponsor members. Repsol’s involvement with sport in Spain has been progressing over the last few years, and it has become a preferential sponsor for the city of Madrid 2016.

All of them stating that the games should be held in Madrid and backing the city’s bid to be chosen as the next Spanish city, after Barcelona, to host the Olympic Games.

In the World Motorcycling Championship, Dani Pedrosa decorated his right hand with the logo of Madrid’s bid for the race in Jerez, and the young riders Marc Márquez and Esteve Rabat raised the poster that has been designed to support the city’s efforts on the starting grid before the race. Marc Coma and Jordi Viladoms also did the same at the end of the Rally Tunisia, and Toni Bou joined in after his victory in the World Trial Championship held in Chaves, Portugal.
