Toni Bou gets his fourth consecutive victory, Takahisa Fujinami close to the podium

Excellent weekend for Toni Bou in the British Trial GP, where this Sunday he repeated yesterday´s victory, and in a round that was very intense. He finished the first lap of the circuit with 8 penalty points, the same as his arch rival, Adam Raga. But on the second only received 5 points and these made sure of the win, rounding off a perfect weekend.

Takahisa Fujinami, a little better and somewhat recovered from his bruising (he had to retire from yesterday´s competition) was able participate today, and he finished just one point away from a podium finish. The next two rounds in this championship will be held at Motegi (Japan) 6th – 7th June, where Toni Bou will go with a nine point lead at the top of the overall classification, after four consecutive victories.

Laia Sanz has started the Women´s European Trial Championship by dominating the round held in Krzeszowice (Poland). The Repsol rider started the defence of her seventh European title in the best possible way, and finished the round with 2 penalty points (one per lap), compared to 7 for Rebekah Cook (Sherco) and 15 for Iris Krämer (Scorpa), second and third, respectively. The European Championship has two more rounds; one in Pragelato (Italy) and Tanval (Czech Republic) on 19th and 25th July, respectively.

Toni Bou
“I am very pleased with this victory because this trial has made us suffer a lot. We had some problems with the bike and this made me feel uncomfortable on the first lap, but we had fixed them for the second lap. Even so, I made a stupid mistake that cost me five points and that made me take things with extra care right to the end. Two triumphs on the same weekend and the corresponding points are, without a doubt, the best possible haul.”

“After the strong blow I received yesterday I don´t think I could ask for more. I competed in quite a lot of pain, and I opened some zones which is always a little inconvenient. Under these conditions I am pleased with having finished just one point away from the podium. Now I am thinking about the next two rounds in my home country, and I hope to be in fit so that I can try and break Toni`s [Bou] good run.”

Laia Sanz
“This trial had two really selective zones, and the rain that fell beforehand made things even more difficult on the first lap. I felt fine riding the bike and I was very concentrated, two fundamental factors. Getting off to a start like this is the best thing that can happen to us.”
