The SEAT Repsol team gets important points in Germany

WTCC Germany – Germany

The eighth date in the WTCC was held today at the circuit of Oschersleben, Germany, and it turned out to be a difficult test for the SEAT Repsol team which was affected by the extra weight on the SEAT León TDI. In spite of this the team won some important points thanks to Monteiro`s fourth position in the first race, and Gené`s 4th in the second, meaning that the team and drivers maintain their lead in the overall standings.

In the first race Gabriele Tarquini had mechanical problems and so was unable to take advantage of his classification on the first row of the starting grid. As the race progressed he fell down the field and Tiago Monteiro as well as Jordi Gené took over from him in the hunt for the leaders. At the end both of them saw that the gap was too big, and they opted for a defensive race. Yvan Muller went off the track slightly and this has made him lose any chance of winning points.

In the second race it was Tiago Monteiro and Rickard Rydell who made a mistake on the first corner. Gené took advantage and had a superb race, withstanding the attacks of the Huff`s Chevrolet first, and then attacks from the BMW driven by Farfus and then the one driven by Priaulx. Only the Chevrolet driver was able to overtake him, and although Farfus ended up hitting him on more than one occasion Gené stayed in an important fourth place for the team. Further back Yvan Muller was able to have a good race and to be in the fight for the points from the beginning. In the end he had to make do with eighth position, a result that gave him one more point in the championship.
