With the thermometer approaching a hundred degrees of room temperature, about fifty in the asphalt and a humidity level hovering around seventy percent, the World Cup today held the first session of qualifying at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Riders, bikes and equipment today has suffered the harsh weather of the Malaysian circuit of Sepang.
In the premier class, the Repsol Honda Team, with Tohru Ukawa the lead he has held the top two positions of the provisional grid. Ninth morning pursued by technical problems, the Japanese rider from Repsol and his team have been able to overcome this situation, finally clinching the fastest lap of the category. His teammate Valentino Rossi, winner of the last Grand Prix held here, set the second fastest time just eight hundredths of Ukawa.
250cc. Toni Elias continues to show his excellent form. First this morning in free practice, the winner of the Pacific Grand Prix has returned to make a difference this afternoon, making the provisional pole ahead of Melandri, second, Porto and teammate Fonsi Nieto, fourth at eight-tenths of Elias.
125cc. Dani Pedrosa continues to set the pace as it did in Japan. First in the morning practice session, the young pupil of Alberto Puig‘s position was repeated later in the first timed practice sessions, ahead of the other two title contenders, Poggiali and Vincent. His teammate Joan Olive has marked the sixteenth fastest time, a position that places him provisionally in fourth line of the grid
