The Repsol rider gets a second victory in the World Championship as his team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, finishes just out of the podium. Laia Sanz, eighteenth in the Junior category
Toni Bou achieved a triumph in the second day of the Trial French Grand Prix, third round of the World Championship. With this win, the second of the current edition, the Repsol rider increased his advantage as leader of the Championship. His team mate in the Repsol Montesa Honda Team, Takahisa Fujinami, finished fourth, just three points away from the podium positions.
After the third position he got yesterday, the Repsol rider took revenge in the best possible way, by achieving a crushing victory with an impeccable second lap. Bou finished the firs lap in second, with twelve points, one behind Albert Cabestany. Nevertheless, with a flawless second lap where he did not take a single point, Bou secured the first overall position ahead of Cabestany, Raga and his team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, who made two mistakes in the second lap in zones two and three and finished just out of the podium.
Over at the Junior category, Repsol rider Laia Sanz finished eighteenth and for the first time this season she was out of the point-scoring positions. The next round of the Trial World Championship will be the Spanish Grand Prix, that will take place next June 19th at Pobladura de las Regueras (León).
Toni Bou:
“In the first lap I made some errors, but in the second it went very well and I feel totally satisfied about it. The balance of this weekend is possible, as I leave France with an increased advantage in the lead. Yesterday I had a margin of only two points and now they are seven”.
Takahisa Fujinami:
“I made some huge mistakes at the beginning of the second lap, in the second and third zones and I lost very valuable points that I was not able to recover and that cost me the podium. I thought I would be able to improve after the first lap, but it did not work”.
