Toni Bou, second, and Takahisa Fujinami, third, gather important points for the overall standings with two rounds left to the end of the Championship
The Repsol riders, Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami, achieved the second and third position, respectively, in the seventh round of the Trial World Championship, held this weekend in Scotland (Fort William). The current World Championship leader, Toni Bou, is still at the top of the standings, now with an advantage of 15 points over his closest rival, Adam Raga.
The several times World Champion had the disadvantage to be the first on track in a tough round under changeable weather. In the second lap, the Repsol rider was able to obtain the highest score of the day. Bou is the only rider that has got on the podium in all the rounds of this year Championship held until now.
His team mate at the Repsol Montesa Honda, Takahisa Fujinami, signed an excellent first lap, that he was not able to repeat, due to the rain, in the second. This is the third consecutive podium for Fujinami, who is now tied in points in the third position of the overall classification.
The Japanese Grand Prix, that will be held next August 20th and 21st in Motegi will be the second-to-last round —also a two-day round with independent points score— of a Championship that will finish next September 3rd and 4th in Isola 2000 (France).
Toni Bou
“We knew from our experience that this is the Championship round that affects the most the first rider on track, so this second position is not a setback. The most important thing is that we achieved it fighting until the last minute and finishing just one point behind the winner. It was a tough race and some areas were very slippery. In cases like this, and taking into account our situation in the Championship, finishing second is always positive”.
Takahisa Fujinami
“I was very satisfied with my first lap, but in the second it was raining slightly, the areas were more slippery and I felt a little tired. The result is good and with this third consecutive podium I reached the third position of the overall standings. This gives me motivation for the following round, that will take place in my country and for me it is a very important round “.
