Good feelings for Marc Márquez at the United States

The Repsol rider sets the second fastest time in the first practice of the Indianapolis Grand Prix

The Motorcycling World Championship crossed the Atlantic Ocean again for another United States Grand Prix, this time with all classes participating at the historical circuit of Indianapolis. In the intermediate category, Moto2, Marc Márquez was again one of the main protagonists, as he took the second fastest time of the day after the two first free practice sessions.

Since he took the track for the first time, the Repsol rider showed a good level on his bike; the great work of his team and the base setup allow him to ride with good feeling without making too many changes to his Moto2. He was fast from the beginning and improved steadily to place himself at the top of the times sheet five minutes before the end. Several riders improved his time and when he was setting the fastest times in the first and second sectors during his last lap, he crashed in corner 10 due to a loss of grip in the front wheel with hard tyre when braking. Fortunately it was a fall without consequences, nor for him or his bike, and he was able to get back to the garage riding the bike himself.

It did not take very long either in the second session for him to show that he is one of the fastest riders at the American track. Since the first minutes of the session he placed himself in the top five, keeping the second place during most of the session. At the end he was about to set the fastest time, but during the last lap and after improving the fastest time in the first three sectors, he found traffic on track and finished 65 thousandths behind the fastest, Simone Corsi.

“The day went fairly well, simply because from the beginning we were very consistent and showed a good level, thanks to a very good base setup. We improved steadily, despite suffering a minor crash at the end of the session. With this tarmac it is difficult and you have to keep the concentration because it is very slippery. When you get out of the line you cannot touch with the knee on track. This afternoon, despite the crash, I had a lot of confidence on the bike. Tomorrow we will have to be calm and watchful because probably everyone will improve, as the grip of the track is improving and that will make the setup to change and the times to be faster”.
