The Repsol rider sets the difference against the rest of the riders and takes his sixth pole with authority
Marc Márquez dominated this afternoon in the qualifying session that took place at Motorland Aragón. The rookie of the year added a new pole position to his record —the twentieth— with an advantage of nearly 7 tenths over the second placed, Julián Simón. The Repsol rider rounded off brilliantly the three practice sessions —two free practice and the qualifying— being on top in all of them.
After the good feeling he got yesterday in the first free practice session, Márquez took the track today ready to keep the level he showed in Motorland Aragon in the 75 minutes of the second free practice, which was longer than usual due to the cancellation of yesterday’s afternoon session. As minutes went by, the Repsol rider kept progressing and improving his times lap after lap until, 10 minutes before the end, he set a time of 1 minute, 53 seconds and 888 thousandths. A time that placed Márquez on top until the end of the session.
In the qualifying session, Emilio Alzamora’s pupil showed again his dominion from the beginning. Already in the third lap, the Repsol rider was able to improve his time of the morning, going below the 1 minute and 54 seconds mark. 10 minutes from the end, Márquez improved again with a 1 minute, 53 seconds and 296 thousandths time, almost 2 seconds faster than the pole achieved in 2010 in the Aragon track.
The Repsol rider did not settle for such a good time and in the following laps he was able to ride consistently in 1 minute 53 seconds. A very good way to face tomorrow’s race at Motorland Aragon.

“The practice went very well. I have felt very comfortable all weekend and in qualifying I was able to do a very good lap, but especially to keep a very fast pace that allows me to be confident for tomorrow. They say there will be a storm tonight, so the grip of the track will change, we will see tomorrow how it is. Everything seems to be all right, I have a good set-up and we will try to be focused and keep the same level we have shown up to now”.
