Fourth consecutive victory for Toni Bou

The Repsol rider achieved a crushing win in the first day of the Japanese Grand Prix. Takahisa Fujinami finished just out of the podium.

The Repsol Montesa Honda rider, Toni Bou, was the winner of the first day of Japanese Grand Prix of Trial held this Saturday. With his fourth victory —all of them consecutive— in five rounds of the current FIM Trial World Championship, the Repsol rider already has an advantage of 22 points in the lead of the overall standings.

In a track with low technical difficulty, the several times World Championship made a difference already in the first lap. Bou did not relax and signed the best score too in the second pass, leaving no chance of victory for his rivals. His team mate at the Repsol Montesa Honda team, Takahisa Fujinami, finished in the fourth place. Conditioned by a couple of mistakes in the first lap and due to the pressure of competing at home, the Japanese rider finished just outside the podium for the second consecutive time in the World Championship.

Tomorrow the second and last day of the Japanese Grand Prix will take place, where the Repsol riders will fight to keep progressing in the overall standings.

Toni Bou,
“I have several reasons to be satisfied. First of all the fact to be in Japan again and win again in this track, very important for Honda. This is also a very consecutive victory due to the situations that left me in the lead of the Championship. The differences with my rivals are bigger and the work we are doing is giving the best result possible”.

Takahisa Fujinami,
“As every year, I have been looking forward to this round, but the pressure to compete at home was too much for me in the first lap, where I made two mistakes that prevented me from getting on the podium. Toni [Bou] and the team helped me in the second lap and things went better, but it was already too late. Tomorrow will be another day and I hope to finish it with a better result”.
