The Repsol rider finished with a new victory at the Japanese Grand Prix. Takahisa Fujinami, third, celebrates the podium in front of his fans.
Toni Bou finished today the Japanese Grand Prix with his second victory of the weekend. After the six rounds held, the Repsol rider has five consecutive victories in the FIM Trial World Championship and leads the competition with a 29-point advantage over his closest rivals in the overall standings.
The Repsol Montesa Honda team rider prevailed on the second day of the Japanese Grand Prix. After a crushing victory yesterday, Bou, who lead the first of the two laps, was forced to fight until the very end to take the first step of the podium. In the end, only one point over Albert Cabestany allowed the Repsol rider to gather a new triumph.
His team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, took revenge for his fourth place yesterday with a well deserved third position on the podium. The Japanese rider, who had options to the second place until the last minute, could achieve his aim of celebrating a podium in front of his fans.
Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami will arrive to the next round of the FIM Trial World Championship, the Spanish Grand Prix, in the first and fifth position of the overall standings, respectively. The Spanish round will take place next June 16th and 17th in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Córdoba).
Toni Bou
“Honda does a great job and a big effort for us, so nothing better than taking a double victory in its country to thank them for it. I am very, very happy to have been able to do it. Today it was much more complicated than yesterday, as the round was not decided until the very next zone. It was a perfect weekend that allowed us to close with a great result the first half of the championship. We are very motivated and will keep working to continue like that until the end”.
Takahisa Fujinami
“I made a mistake in the fourth zone of the first lap that was determining. In the second lap I raised the pace, I did my own race and when I reached the last zone I could have aimed for the second place. I wanted this podium, both for Honda and for me, and, of course, I am very happy with it. It was very important to be able to celebrate it with my fans, I want to thank them again for their continued support”.
