Sixth consecutive victory for Toni Bou

The Repsol rider increases his advantage in the World Championship after the first day of the Spanish Grand Prix, which the several times Champion and his team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, finished with injuries.

Toni Bou achieved victory in the first day of the Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo Trial (Córdoba). The rider from Piera was able to finish on the first step of the podium achieving his sixth consecutive victory from the seven rounds already held. With the 20 points he obtained, Bou increases his advantage on top of the overall standings to 32 points over the second, Albert Cabestany. His team mate, Takahisa Fujinami finished in fifth position in a trial where both Repsol riders were injured.

Toni Bou tasted good and bad luck in the first day of the Spanish Grand Prix. The Repsol rider achieved a new triumph that increases his margin on top of the World Championship’s overall standings, but he had to pay for it dearly. In the last part of the round, the several times Champion suffered an injury in the femoral biceps of his left leg that will probably affect him tomorrow in the second day of the Spanish round.

In this first day, Takahisa Fujinami had the same fate of his team mate and also suffered injuries. The Japanese rider suffered a tear of the left hand’s little finger when he tried to finished the sixth zone of the first lap. Fujinami got over the circumstances and was able to finish in fifth position.

“I am satisfied to have won and for those points of advantage in the lead of the Championship, but I’m also worried about what can happen tomorrow. It will be a difficult day. Let’s see how it is tonight, how much I recover and if I’m fit to fight for victory, which right now I feel will be very difficult”.

“I don’t have much to say, only that it was a difficult day. I was suffering, but I wanted to finish; I had to do it and I did it. We will see what happens tomorrow. I know I will suffer again, but I will do my best to achieve the best possible result under these conditions”.
