Second place for Bou at the United States

The Repsol rider finished on the podium the first day of the United States Grand Prix and keeps the lead of the Outdoor World Championship. Takahisa Fujinami was fifth.

Current Champion of the Series, Toni Bou, was able to keep the lead in the overall standings of the FIM Trial World Championship after finishing second in the first day of the United States Grand Prix held in Sequatchie, Tenessee. The Repsol Montesa Honda rider has a two-point advantage over the overall second, Adam Raga. Third in the general standings is his team mate Takahisa Fujinami, who finished the round in fifth.

This first day’s race consisted of three laps in a very simple 12-zone tour. Under those conditions, to recover the points lost was nearly impossible for Toni Bou. The several times Champion made a mistake in the first lap and another in the third, which definitely put victory out of his reach. The Repsol Montesa Honda Japanese rider lost his chances of repeating his last round’s victory already in the first lap.

The second day of the Outdoor World Championship’s American round will be held this Sunday.

Toni Bou,
“Today it was a difficult race and I did not feel comfortable: that’s my assessment of this first day. I made a couple of mistakes and I paid for them. The positive side is that with this second position I gathered some very valuable points that allow me to keep the lead of the Championship. Clearly, this year is not going to be easy for anyone and the three different winners in the three rounds already held are a good sign of it”.

Takahisa Fujinami,

“When I started the race I wanted to repeat my last victory and I suppose the pressure was too much. I simply didn’t do it well. I need to improve tomorrow and I will do my best, I can’t say anything else”.
