With the FISA World Sportcar Championship gone, Jesus Pareja was left without a seat. He did, however, contact French team Larbre Competition to drive in various GT races with their Porsche Carrera 3.8 RSR. The participation of Repsol and Motor 16 magazine convinced manager Jack Leconte to let Pareja enter the 24 Hours races at Le Mans and Spa.
At Le Mans, Pareja shared the Porsche with Leconte and De Thoisy. They were always amongst the frontrunners in the GT class, behind the official Porsche GT1 and the Jaguar XJ 220, and placed third in a magnificent performance. The posterior disqualification of Jaguar meant that they would move up to second.
Following this experience, Leconte proposed a 2 Hours of Spa entry with Dominique Dupuy and Joel Gouhier as teammates. Pareja was again a standout, recognised as the top driver at night. His final stint saw him dubbed “The King of the Night.” Unfortunately, when he left Gouhier the car in third position, the transmission broke and the car was left stranded on track. The race was eventually cancelled due to the death of King Bauduin.
