Just five days after the German Grand Prix, the MotoGP World Championship crosses the Atlantic Ocean and travels to the Laguna Seca circuit in the United States. Marc Marquez will arrives there as leader of the premier class after his dominant victory at the Sachsenring, but now takes on a track completely unfamiliar to him. There is huge expectation to see how the young Repsol Honda rider adapts to a unique circuit on the calendar.

His teammate, Dani Pedrosa, has already recovered from the nasty crash he suffered last Saturday during the third free practice session in Germany. He missed the German GP through the after effects of the tumble and also lost the lead of the World Championship to Marquez, who is to points ahead. Pedrosa travels to the U.S. on Thursday instead of on Wednesday, in order to spend an extra day working with physiotherapists to improve the condition of his left collarbone.

Laguna Seca is known worldwide for its ‘Corkscrew’ descending chicane and tight layout, and starting Friday it will host the ninth round of the World Championship -in which only the MotoGP riders will participate. It will be a tough test for both Marquez and for Pedrosa, who will look for strong results at the midway point of the competition before a small summer break. Following this, they will be back in action for an intense second half to the season.

Dani Pedrosa
“After a disappointing weekend in Germany, I’m happy to be feeling better again and thankful that my shoulder wasn’t completely broken, even if a fracture is still not the best thing to happen! Now I need to get back on track to see what condition I’m in and hope we can have a good weekend.”

Marc Marquez
“I am feeling really good at the moment. Even though the victory in Germany didn’t feel the same as Austin, because Dani and Jorge were not there, I am still so happy with the result. Now we go to Laguna Seca with no time to rest. Everybody says it’s a nice track but very technical. I’ve never ridden there so we will start to work hard from the first moment we arrive to learn the lines. From what I understand there are many blind points where you cannot see the racing line. Anyway, as always we will try our best and see what we can do.”
