Repsol employees pay homage to Marc Marquez

Rider receives warm reception from Repsol workers, as they congratulate him on becoming the MotoGP World Championship’s youngest title winner in history.

A group of almost 4,000 employees at the Campus Repsol, the corporate headquarters of the energy company, came out to celebrate Marc Marquez on his title-winning season in MotoGP.

Repsol President, Antonio Brufau, praised the values that Marc Marquez represents –including humility, teamwork, effort and dedication– and highlighted that these are the same as those of the company. “We feel very proud of you and of all our riders –not only because you win races but because, win or lose, you always show a smile, motivation and sportsmanship,” said Mr. Brufau.

Marc Marquez wished to thank Repsol for its support throughout the season, and also beforehand in his formative years of racing. He did so by presenting the MotoGP World Championship confirmation diploma to Mr. Brufau.

Answering questions from the Repsol workers, Marquez underlined that the support of fans is the energy which pushes him “to give much more on track” and revealed that the rider against whom he would most liked to have competed is his mentor, Emilio Alzamora. Asked about the Repsol values of responsibility, transparency, flexibility and innovation, he said that he identified particularly with the first. For 2014, he wishes for a year “without injuries,” as he is sure that he will be giving 100% at every race.

Thirty employees had the chance to meet the Repsol Honda rider in person and receive a souvenir from the three-time World Champion. The homage concluded with a surprise: A special video in which all of the Repsol riders from 2013 thanked the workers and wished them a happy festive season.

Repsol will again aspire to conquer MotoGP in the 2014 season, in what will be the 20th anniversary of the company’s alliance with Honda in the premier class.
