Toni Bou, again on the first step of the podium

The Repsol rider keeps increasing his consecutive victories record –23– after winning yesterday in France, in the second round of the year.

Toni Bou increased yesterday his advantage as X-Trial World Championship leader to 13 points after winning the exciting finale of the second round of the championship at the Marseille Sports Palace, France. The several times Champion achieved his 38th victory –the last 23 were consecutive– in the 58 rounds where he has participated from this series, where he has won the World Title the last seven years.

The Repsol Montesa Honda rider dominated the three phases of the Indoor Trial, scoring 5 points in the qualifying and 1 in the semi-final. The final results were already settled in the first of the four areas of the final, where the rider from Piera received 3 points –one of them for excessive time– while the rest of the riders found the area impossible.

His teammate, Takahisa Fujinami, was left out of the final after ending fifth in the qualifying –19 points, and sixth in the semi-final –16 points–.

The third round of the X-Trial World Championship will take place at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, next February 9th.

“In Marseille we saw again that this year the final with four areas and with the score back to zero are very close. Here we found very technical zones and a rival, Adam (Raga) that made things difficult to me until the last moment. In such complicated areas, I felt very good on the bike and that is very important as well as the 13-point advantage, because it is a very short Championship.”

“Leaving the result apart, I am happy because my right knee is improving after the injure I suffered some months ago. Here I felt tense and I lacked balance in some moments, but the main problems were the second and the fourth areas of the semi-final. When there are only four areas and you fail two of them, it is impossible to recover.”
