Eighth consecutive X-Trial World Championship for Toni Bou

The Repsol Montesa Honda team rider expands his legend in Milan by winning a new edition of the indoor World Championship.

Toni Bou keeps beating his own records and increasing his legend. The Repsol Montesa Honda Team rider secured on Saturday his eighth X-Trial World Championship title, all of them consecutive, after winning the second-to-last round of the season, the Milan Indoor Trial. Eight titles in the indoor category to be added to another seven titles also consecutive in the outdoor Championship. Fifteen World Championships, all of them with the Repsol Montesa Honda Team, that made Toni Bou the most successful rider of all times in this class.

His statistics in the FIM X-Trial World Championship are impressive indeed: 40 victories, 25 of them consecutive, from the 60 rounds where he has competed since 2005. All that at only 27 and keeping his motivation intact to look for more.

The rider from Piera offered a real show in the three phases of the Milan Indoor Trial, by finishing without penalties the qualifying and the semi-final, while receiving only one point in the finale —due to exceeding the time allowed in one zone—. His team mate, Takahisa Fujinami, finished the qualifying with 18 points, which left him out of the rest of the competition.

The Oviedo Indoor Trial will close on March 28th the present edition of the FIM X-Trial World Championship.

Ton Bou:

“For me the indoor trials are very special, I already said that before, and winning the title of the class is fantastic. I have eight and I will continue fighting to keep the motivation. I don’t want to stop now. Today I felt very well from the beginning, I started very aggressive and I felt comfortable on the bike. I am very happy to win like this. Now with the championship already secured, we will work for the outdoor World Championship. We have a lot of work to do, but the results we are getting are our best motivation”.

Takahisa Fujinami:

“First of all, I want to congratulate Toni. What he achieved is amazing, not that I need to say it. In my case, I made some mistakes in some areas and I ended out of the semi-final”.
