Scientists at Repsol Technology Centre formulate a new fuel which improves power and reduces consumption.

For years Repsol have had a team specialising in fuel for motorsport competition, working side-by-side with the Honda factory in Japan to get the best performance from the bikes used by Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

Thanks to the close collaboration between the Repsol Technology Centre and the Honda laboratories in Saitama, Japan, Spanish investigators have designed and formulated the fuel and lubricants that will be used by the Repsol Honda Team in 2015. This has been made possible thanks to the fact that Repsol have been provided with an identical engine to that which Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez will ride next season. The competition fuel has thus been developed half a year ahead of time. Both riders had the opportunity to ride next year’s bike at Brno in tests held in July and August, providing their feedback to the team and engineers.

The concurrent development of fuel, engine and lubricant has given the Repsol Honda MotoGP team a unique advantage. On this occasion, Repsol scientists have looked to improve power, reduce consumption and look after the mechanisms in their development of the new formulas.

Repsol and Honda joined forces in 1995 and, 20 years later, they form one of the most solid and long lasting collaborations in the history of the Motorcycle World Championship. Together they have won 10 individual titles, 136 races and 357 podiums. The two companies have extended their agreement and will continue to work together for at least a further three years, through to the end of 2017.
