With Alex Marquez’ Moto3 World Championship win yesterday, the Marquez brothers become the first siblings to take Grand Prix titles in the same season.
Last month Marc Marquez successfully defended the MotoGP title in Japan, and yesterday brother Alex was crowned Moto3 World Champion in an historic race in Valencia. The Repsol rider has stepped out of the shadow of his older brother, who accompanied him in his early years in Grand Prix racing, to gain a foothold in the elite of motorcycle competition. Both have been stars in a season pf memorable moments, reflected in this video.
Alex Marquez earns a place on the select list of riders to win a Grand Prix title. He has withstood the pressure of being the younger brother of the sport’s current king, with whom he rode under Repsol colours even before debuting in the World Championship.
