Toni Bou repeated victory this weekend in Motegi and Takahisa Fujinami accompanied him on the second step of the podium. Jaime Busto finished again in sixth place.
Toni Bou is leaving Motegi with 40 points from the two wins achieved in this first round of the 2015 World Championship. Two flawless victories which show once again the high level of the Repsol Honda Team rider. In the second day of the Japanese Grand Prix, Bou took the first position from the first zone and kept the lead of the race until after the twelve zones and three laps of the round. His team mate Takahisa Fujinami was also able to achieve a valuable second place, while young Jaime Busto got the same result as yesterday, sixth place.
The level was higher in this second and last day of competition in Motegi and Toni Bou was able to ride more comfortably. The seven points of the first lap gave him a difference of 14 points over the second. A confidence that, during the second lap, proved excessive as he made a couple of unexpected mistakes. In the last lap, though, he confirmed his excellent shape and was able to secure victory once more.
His team mate at the Repsol Honda Team, Takahisa Fujinami, had a great date on his home round, as he finished in second and showed that he has successfully recovered from his knee injury. Meanwhile, young Jaime Busto closed his first Grand Prix in World Pro with another well-deserved sixth place. It is the best start in the highest category of a Junior Champion in the history of this competition.
In the overall standings, Toni Bou leads the Championship with 40 points, Fujinami is third —30 points— and Busto, sixth —20 points— The second GP of the Trial World Championship, the Czech Republic GP, will take place in Sokolov next May 30th and 31st.
Toni Bou,
“I’m very happy with this Japanese Grand Prix. I think I did very well in the first and third laps. In the second I failed in a couple of zones, but was able to recover from that. I’m very satisfied with the two wins, and also of how the trial went, how I felt and for having achieved the first position in Honda’s home round. Couldn’t have been better, it’s a great day for the team.”
Takahisa Fujinami,
“The feeling when I finished today was amazing and I want to thank the doctors that helped me in the recovery of my injured knee. Today I felt better, I thought I was making many mistakes, but I saw I would be able to be on the podium. For me, Zones 6 and 7 were very difficult, but in the last lap I focused and gathered my strength to finish with 1 point after zone 5. Thanks to all those that trusted Fujigas!”
