Good weather allows both Repsol riders to add valuable kilometres on their Moto3 machines before visit to Assen.
One week before travelling to the ‘Cathedral of Motorcycle Racing’ for the Dutch TT, Fabio Quartararo and Jorge Navarro have completed two days of testing at MotorLand Aragon. Together with their respective crews, the Repsol riders rode at a very good pace and completed their planned workload, focusing on the setup of their Honda Moto3 machines.
Rain held off during the two-day test for the Repsol riders and they were able to ride on a completely dry track. These favourable conditions allowed Fabio Quartararo and Jorge Navarro to primarily work on trying out new base setups. These were different starting points to the one usually used at the beginning of a Grand Prix weekend, as limited time available does not allow for extensive analysis of bike performance with different configurations.
The next challenge for the Repsol riders comes on June 25th, 26th and 27th, at the Dutch TT Assen.
Fabio Quartararo
“We managed to ride at a very good pace, put in a lot of laps and above all recover the good feeling we had on the bike. I am very happy with all the work done, because we tried out a lot of things and everything went very well. For these two days we have gone out with used tyres a lot, which is where I needed some improvement both in practice and at the end of the races, and we have improved considerably. We also tested some very different setups for the bike, although it was quite windy and that makes it a little harder to work.”
Jorge Navarro
“These two days at MotorLand we have continued working in the same way as at recent races. We made some small changes to the setup that helped me a lot, because I felt very comfortable on the bike. Both my times and pace have been good. With each Grand Prix and every time I get on the bike, we are taking steps forward. We are evolving a lot alongside the team and I am able to ride with more confidence, and so I can set faster times. This test served to consolidate this work and that’s the most important thing, because we leave here strengthened, calm and confident ahead of a race at an unfamiliar circuit.”
