Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Toni Bou, Takahisa Fujinami and Jaime Busto to participate in an exhibition in A Coruña, with proceeds going entirely to the Rias Altas Food Bank –a charitable non-profit organisation that assists those in need.
The Repsol MotoGP and Trial teams visit A Coruña today with a charitable motive. Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Toni Bou, Takahisa Fujinami and Jaime Busto will star in an exhibition this afternoon at the Palacio de los Deportes de Riazor, in front of more than 4,000 spectators.
This charity event is part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Repsol refinery in A Coruña. The proceeds will go to the Rias Altas Food Bank, the charity chosen by website users of acoruna.repsol.com.
This nonprofit organisation will use donations to collect and distribute food amongst legally recognised entities in the province of A Coruña, specialising in serving least well off. It will also allocate part of the money to improving logistics and its regional offices.
The Repsol riders went to the Rías Altas Food Bank in Meicende to meet the volunteers first hand.
Prior to that, Marquez, Pedrosa, Bou, Fujinami and Jaime Busto visited the Hercules Tower, the only Roman lighthouse and the oldest in operation in the world, declared a World Heritage Site and symbol of the city. They then went to the Repsol refinery in A Coruña, which employs more than 1,000 people either directly or indirectly.
The Repsol Honda MotoGP riders enjoyed a ride on CBR 1000 machines near Riazor Beach, another symbol of the city.
The main event of the day will take place between 7pm and 8:30pm at a packed Palacio de los Deportes de Riazor, where the riders star in a sporting exhibition full of surprises.
After that, Marquez and Pedrosa will shift their focus to the Dutch TT, whilst Bou, Fujinami and Busto will face the next round of the World Trial Championship in Andon (France).
