Toni Bou repeats second place in Andorra

The Repsol Honda Team rider keeps the lead of the World Championship after another second position in the sixth round of the World Championship. Fujinami finished fifth and Busto, with physical problems, sixth.

The second day of the Andorran Grand Prix held today in Sant Julia de Loria finished with the same result as yesterday, with Toni Bou in second position of a race won by Adam Raga. With this result, the Repsol Honda Team rider keeps the lead of the provisional standings of the World Championship, with 28 points ahead of Raga, three rounds before the end of the season.

His team mate, the Japanese rider Takahisa Fujinami, improved today with reference to his yesterday result, although in the second lap he made three consecutive mistakes that prevented him from fighting for the podium positions. He finished in fifth place of the Andorran Trial, which allowed him to keep his fifth position in the World Championship classification.

Jaime Busto, the young rider of the Repsol Honda Team, suffered a lot today in the Andorran Trial zones. A sudden lumbago attack that could be treated by the organization’s doctors did not allow him to ride comfortably in this second day, in which he finished sixth.

The next meeting for the Repsol Honda Team will be in the same place next weekend for the fourth round of the Spanish Trial Championship. The World Championship will have its seventh Grand Prix next July 25th and 26th at the United States.

“The day was complicated from the beginning, with a 5 in the second zone. At some point I could get closer, but it was not to be. And when it can’t be, the best is to settle for the points of the second place, because I was about to finish third. Adam [Raga] was very strong here and I know that it will also be difficult to beat him in the next races, so the wins I gathered up to know and the advantage I built are very important. Now we need to focus on the next World Championship round.”

“I had some trouble in some zones, where I wasn’t able to get up the steps, which were 0 or 5. That is where I received a lot of points. I fought as much as I could, but in the second lap I made three consecutive mistakes that prevented me to be in the battle for the podium positions. Yesterday I was the last of the “second group” and today the first. Now we need to think about the next races, as they are not so high and I hope I don’t have so much trouble.”

“I suffered a lot today. Just as I started I began feeling pain in the lumbar area and I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish the race. Luckily there was a physiotherapist in the organization that gave me a massage and I was able to continue. I didn’t want to see the result and I was quite fast to try and finish the race as quick as possible. In the end, the sixth place is not so bad, but I had a very bad time.”
