Repsol Honda team riders seek to close out the 2015 season with another victory, after two wins for Pedrosa and one for Marquez on flyaway stage.
The Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana will be the venue for the MotoGP season-closer this weekend. The Repsol Honda Team riders will again be leading candidates for the win, after three straight victories in the last three races. Furthermore, the track has always been a good one for Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa: One year ago, Marquez took victory in Valencia, and Dani Pedrosa is the man with the most wins at the track with six. The winner in Malaysia two weeks ago, Pedrosa could celebrate 100 podiums in the premier class if he places on the rostrum this weekend –something he has done on 9 occasions.
In the Moto3 class, Jorge Navarro will face the challenge of his home race after the excellent progress he has shown throughout this season. Three podiums from the last four races allow him to approach this weekend positively. Alongside him will be Fabio Quartararo, who will try to be ready for the race after missing the last five Sunday contests due to injury. Maria Herrera will be riding at a circuit she knows well from her time in the FIM CEV Repsol and from her last year’s wild card ‒ experience that she will try to be use to her advantage to place in the points.
Marc Marquez
“It’s been a difficult week after what happened in Sepang but I’ve tried my best to put it behind me and concentrate on my training and looking forward to the final race of the season. We want to finish on a high note so we will work hard from Friday to get the bike setup well and give ourselves the best chance for the race. I’ve had mixed results here in the past but I enjoy racing here in front of the home fans. I hope the events of the past week can be put behind us and we can focus on the race.”
Dani Pedrosa
“It’s been a great but tiring few weeks. We’ve worked hard and won two races and this is something I couldn’t have imagined in Qatar at the beginning of the year. Now we arrive in Valencia for the final race of 2015 and it would be great to finish with another victory. I’ve had good results here in the past so I hope to be able to put on a good show in front of all the Spanish fans and fight for the win.”
Fabio Quartararo
“I have recovered quite a lot from the injury, but I’m still not one hundred percent fit. Contesting practice and the race will be quite a challenge, but we have worked very hard to get in the best shape possible and not taking part in the Malaysian Grand Prix has also allowed me to recover further. In addition, we are going to a track that I really like, because I know I can ride very fast there. I will work very intensely with my crew from the opening day to do my best in the race, and to fight in the front group.”
Jorge Navarro
“Valencia will be a very special weekend for me, because I will be riding at home in front of my fans. We go there on a very good run, thanks to the hard work we are doing, but it will be essential not to put pressure on ourselves because I am sure that there will be many people hoping I win. I will focus on doing my job, giving my all, and if we can win at home it would be fantastic. It is a circuit with several slow corners, where it is important to have a good setup in order to stop the bike well in the corners and keep the racing line. There are a few corners that are a little faster, so the key is to find a good compromise. The bike has been working very well over the last few races, so I’m sure that at Valencia we will be competitive again.”
Maria Herrera
“I’m looking forward to Valencia. It’s a track I know well and I think it could suit me. You have to prepare well from Friday to get the best possible setup –one that will allow us to have a good weekend and finish the season well. The bike has improved a lot throughout the year and I feel more comfortable with the chassis. We’ll have to get the bike braking strongly in order to take the slow corners well and come out of them quickly. From the first lap we will work at one hundred percent to be strong for the race.”
