Photo or picture?

Regional Museum of Cervera hosts exhibition of 18 hyperrealist paintings based on the work of Jaime Olivares, Repsol’s photographer in the Motorcycle World Championship.

It is not easy to fool the eye, but sometimes a picture is so precise that it is difficult to distinguish from a photograph. This is shown in an exhibition of 18 hyperrealist paintings by Tomas Canton, which can be visited at the Regional Museum of Cervera in Spain through to February 26th.The artist, a big fan of motorcycle racing, has based his work on the shots taken by Repsol photographer Jaime Olivares in the MotoGP World Championship.

In ‘El titulo más perseguido’ (‘The Most Sought-After Title’), Canton has recreated with pinpoint accuracy some of the moments that led to Marc Marquez’s third MotoGP title win. He has provided a picture for each of the Grands Prix held in 2016. Could you distinguish between brushstrokes and pixels?
