Márquez, Pedrosa and the trial riders Bou, Fujinami and Busto take part in this special picnic before the Argentinian GP

The calçot, one of the most typical products of southwestern Catalonia in Spain, is a sweet and tender long onion that is roasted and served with romesco sauce. It is also part of the region’s premier group gastronomic experiences, as people gather with friends and family in the countryside and outdoors during the month of March. After the Qatar GP, Repsol Honda riders Marc Márquez and Dani Pedrosa held a calçotada with their friends and teammates.

Before traveling to the Argentinian GP, the MotoGP pair spent a sunny day with Trial riders Toni Bou, Takahisa Fujinami and Jaime Busto, as well as Jordi Castellà (mechanic for Marc Márquez), Jose M. Allende and David García (telemetrists for Dani Pedrosa), Jose Luis Martínez (assistant to Marc Márquez), Xavi Bosch and Edu Villodre (assistants to Dani Pedrosa).

This calçotada has been pending since a shock revelation from Pedrosa earlier this year: He had never tried calçots. Márquez was quick to put that right, and acted as master of ceremonies. However, it was Fujinami -Japanese by birth and adopted by Empordà- who was the real star of the calçotada.
