“It was a really difficult race -perhaps the toughest of the year- and one of the hardest we have had at this circuit, because there was a group with a lot of riders. I felt very comfortable, I was able to brake very hard, and I tried to recover every possible position at the start, because I was strong at overtaking spots. As the laps went by I felt more comfortable, and a few laps from the end I was able to get into the top five. With four laps remaining, I made a small mistake coming off the last corner, because everyone slowed down a lot and we were very slow exiting. I got overtaken by the whole group and I got to the first corner in eighteenth position. I tried to fight back as much as possible, knowing that it would be almost impossible to reach the podium, but I pushed all the way to place eleventh. I am happy with the team’s work because after the warm up we made a change that worked well, so if we can improve the first part of the race, in the next one we will have more options.”
Arón Canet, 5th +0.364 sec.
“We came out second in the overall standings, although our goal for this year remains to be in the front group, achieving small results and adding points with the end of the season in mind. It was a very tricky and dangerous race, because on the straight we were millimetres from each other, even touching. On the first few laps it was unnecessary to fight for the lead, because here we are all very young riders and most do not make a strategy for the end of the race. I was close to tenth position, riding comfortably and, if I was overtaken, I could return the pass with ease. When I decided to take a step forward, I was able to put myself in the top five, to try to attack at the end. The last lap did not go very well, because I wanted to be among the top three, but finishing fifth, in terms of keeping accumulating experience, is quite good.”
